In the six months since we launched www.peek.org.za – our game-changing online platform dedicated to showcasing beautiful craft and design products made in South Africa – the platform has caught the attention of news, décor and lifestyle media, and is becoming a go-to destination for finding distinctive local products for media features.

To date media coverage totalling R1 897 924 in value has been garnered thanks to the CDI’s campaign to promote the platform. In addition, the CDI’s campaign on social media raises the visibility of Peek to over 40 000 people nationally.

The media that have covered Peek includes: Cape Argus, Cape Times, Designing Ways, Fair Lady, Fin24, Food & Home Entertaining, Glamour, Hello Joburg, Home, House and Leisure, IOL.co.za, Marcia Loves It!, News24, Northern News, People's Post, Pretoria News, Radio 2000, SAFM, Sentinel News, SME South Africa, South Africa News Gazette, Southern Suburbs Tatler, Sunday Times Lifestyle Magazine, The Capetowner, The Citizen, The New Age, Tuis, and Western Cape Business News.

Peek, the development of which was funded by the national Department of Small Business Development, is a free platform for creative businesses anywhere in the country to showcase directly to local and international consumers and buyers. Currently close to 400 businesses are registered on the platform showcasing over 2 000 products. All nine provinces represented.

In addition to the media campaign to promote Peek, our Market Support team has also been very active showcasing the platform at trade shows – we recently showcased Peek at Decorex and SARCDA exhibitions in Johannesburg in August. While Decorex is mostly a consumer show, SARCDA is a trade show which is attended by verified South African and international buyers, and it showcases the latest in gift, design and décor trends. It was therefore an opportunity for buyers to learn about Peek and the host of producers we have listed. Businesses showcasing at both shows also had the opportunity to upload their products onto Peek.

To take advantage of the ongoing campaign to promote Peek and the products listed on the platform, we are encouraging our members to join Peek and upload products.
