The Craft and Design Institute offers a residency programme each lasting a minimum of one month for practicing designers and crafters dedicated to the development, research and explorations of marketable product. The residency offers potential in the exploration and innovation of ideas and new product. It offers access to a unique working environment where participants can benefit from monitoring, supervision , training and communication with professionals in the sector. The residency period may be extended pending review.
A key objective of the CDI residency is for the generation and exchange of knowledge and experiences in a resourced facility where ideas and processes can interact and intersect to enrich practices. The engagement of such dialogue also aims to allow for the exploration of practices and learning opportunities and the enrichment of content and practices.

The Craft and Design Institute’s residency program encourages participants to take risks within their own practice and engage with experimentation and prototyping processes.
The selection process will be made based on the clarity of the proposals and its intended outcomes.

Digital portfolio of recent work +/- 5 images. (each image with data sheet and explanatory text)

PDF document that includes: Proposal and its intended outcomes.

A description of the project including text (maximum 500 words) and sketch / drawing (maximum 10 images).
All documents must be sent via the online application form and not exceed 4MB.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
