CDI member Poly Nation has announced an exciting new initiative in the South African clothing manufacturing and e-commerce industry aimed at independent creatives and brands. It is called Lucky Friday (www.luckyfriday.co.za). You create the designs, they can assist you with a wide range of fabrics, reliable production, secure warehousing and affordable e-commerce.

With the South African clothing industry taking a lot of strain due to a variety of reasons, they have identified the need for creatives and independent brands to have a place where they can turn to, that has the skill, know-how and capacity to produce not only in quantity, but also with an emphasis on quality and uniqueness.

The objective is to collaborate with brands and creatives, and to have a seamless manufacturing facility accessible to all, big and small. The new Lucky Friday initiative leverages the strength of Poly Nation’s unique factory, with over 25 years of manufacturing know-how, and adds a range of services such as warehousing, logistics facilities, as well as e-commerce.

“New designers and brands have the cards stacked up against them, while the established brands and limited distribution channels dominate,” says Alfonso De Chaud, Poly Nation CEO.

“Lucky Friday is about collaboration. It’s about an opportunity to leverage the strength of our unique factory, with over 25 years of manufacturing know-how and accessing new ways to launch and boost a brand through a one-stop facility – we address a lot of the common pains designers face in getting their designs made and then making their products available to buy online.”

This is how Lucky Friday works:

  • You create your designs. (Both for your main print and for your neck label)
  • You choose from their extensive range of fabric colours.
  • You choose from their extensive range of garments (Tee Shirt, Hoodie, Sweater etc.)
  • They take care of all production, so your order is ready to impress your customer.
  • Once they complete your order, you can choose to take it away to your warehouse, OR you can enter the Lucky Friday e-commerce programme.
  • They will warehouse your stock. (Warehousing will be charged by item)
  • They will give you exposure on the Lucky Friday Website.
  • If you have six products, or more, you will be allocated your own landing page, showcasing your Brand Identity, with your full available product range.
  • You will determine the selling price of your range.
  • They will pack and deliver your orders generated through their website.
  • They will collect the payments from your client.
  • At the end of each month you will receive a reconciliation indicating: sales, warehousing rental, Lucky Friday fee and amount to be paid to you. You will also receive a Stock on Hand report.
