After a successful second trade exhibition in Cape Town in March 2019, a selected group of NEXT19 companies and special invitees will showcase their new product ranges at SARCDA Christmas in Johannesburg.
NEXT19 and the participating small and medium enterprises, comprising established and new South African designers and manufacturers, is the market exposure component of the ´Development by Design´ programme. ‘Development by Design’ enables small and medium businesses in the creative sector to develop and grow. Over the last five years, more than 60 businesses have participated in various export and market development activities, including coaching, workshops and mentorships.
The programme, which is run by the Craft and Design Institute (CDI), was initiated by the Dutch Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries (CBI), and is also supported by the Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda). Over the years a number of the companies have participated in numerous local trade events, as well as leading European trade fairs such as Maison & Objet in Paris, and Ambiente in Frankfurt.
‘NEXT’ takes place annually through exhibitions and trade shows, affording a new group of young and upcoming entrepreneurs the opportunity to develop their businesses for both national and export markets.
