Production and Product Development Series

Do you need to refresh the products you offer?
Has your market changed, and do you need to develop new products?
Do you need more efficient production processes to improve your products and profitability?

If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, then this CDI webinar series is for you.

The CDI has developed this series of webinars to assist you to both improve production processes for maximum efficiency and to provide creative tools and insights to develop new products, product ranges, or refine existing ones for the ever-changing market.

The webinars build on each other to provide you with a full spectrum of production and product development advice.

1. PRODUCT REFINEMENT ON 20 JANUARY 2022 (Caragh Barwise, CDI Product Support facilitator)

Analyse your existing product. Review of your product by segments (Idea / Market / Material / Process / Cost / Branding) to see what aspect/s can be refined i.e. enquire into material and processes choices – whether another process could be used; and if aspects interrelate to form a cohesive whole for a better resolved product.

2. EXPANDING AND DIVERSIFYING ON 27 JANUARY 2022 (Caragh Barwise, CDI Product Support facilitator)
Look at creating new product, using your existing product as a reference point. Exercises in which imagination is used to visualise your product in different ways, thereby coming up with a new / variation on a theme product. This is a “right brained”, creative activity to get out of “stuck-ness” and having some fun.

3. PRODUCT RANGE DEVELOPMENT ON 3 FEBRUARY 2022 (Jane Solomon, Creativity Facilitator)
Exercises to develop a product range using an existing product as a starting point. Finding ideas for new products (using existing skills and materials) to cover different price points, to appeal to different sections of the market and to fulfil alternative functions. This workshop also looks at collaboration.

4. PRODUCTION ON 10 FEBRUARY 2022 (Caragh Barwise, CDI Product Support facilitator)
We look at streamlining processes and this is applicable to both existing and intended products. We look at tools to use to plan and schedule production, objectively looking at material procurement and time in production, and gathering data for evaluating choices and deciding where to streamline.

5. LOGO DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT ON 17 FEBRUARY 2022 (Jane Solomon, Creativity Facilitator)
Develop or re-evaluate your own logo and branding aesthetic to reflect your business values and products; and how to convey a clear message to your target market. You will be creatively exploring ideas and concepts around colour, symbols and images that reflect your business brand. Once you have completed the workshop, you will be able to set up a one-on-one appointment with our Product Support consultant, to assist you with digitising your logo idea.

6. PACKAGING AND BRANDING ON 24 FEBRUARY 2022 (Caragh Barwise, CDI Product Support facilitator)
You will focus back on your own product and branded packaging. We’ll cover the basics of packaging and use of colour, form, and function; and we also explore getting product safely to where it will be sold.
