Product Support Introduction Workshop

Its focus is on exposing participants to the range of tools and processes available within the space. Areas introduced include 3d scanning, 3d printing, vinyl cutting and transfers onto fabric, 3D milling as well as digital design and fabrication processes. Participants are taken through a demonstration and discussion type process by programme staff.

ACCESSING CDI’s PRODUCT SUPPORT
Based at our office in West Quay Rd, V&A Waterfront, our Product Support space is an assisted DIY facility with tools to assist craft producers, designers, students, and businesses to develop new, and refine existing product.
Examples of what you can get assistance with:
- Initial consultation to discuss the concept, development, refinement or creation of a product
- Prototyping
- Follow up consultations
- Assistance with marketing material development (such as design of your business cards, flyers, catalogues, pricelists etc.)
- Development of display stands, and packaging
- Supervised Access allows you access to the CDI product tool room, and time and space to utilise our equipment. See the list of available equipment below.
Examples of what you have access to:
- Work bench and tools
- Dremel tool (for small, intricate work)
- Computer access (for online research, access to software – we have Adobe design suite)
- Sewing machine (not an overlocker)
- Woodworking tools – (benchtop) drill press, handsaws, chisels, (benchtop) scroll saw, hammer, clamps, chisels, files
- Glue guns, pyrography tool, Dremmel Versaflame (for soldering and annealing metal), variable heat guns.
