This in-person, one-day workshop in Cape Town, funded by the City of Cape Town’s Arts and Culture department, explores how your culture, heritage and traditions can be used as a starting point for the design of authentic products and to reinvent existing products.
A guided, art-making process (looking at colour, symbols, pattern, materials and techniques) aims to encourage you to add meaning and message to your products to reflect and celebrate who you are.
We invite you to keep traditions alive – let’s celebrate our skills and stories of the past to create the products of tomorrow!
*Please note there are 4 workshop dates, please book for only the individual date you wish to attend. There are 10 spots per workshop only. If you book and are unavailable to attend, please contact the workshop co-ordinator immediately – this will enable us to ensure that others can have the opportunity.
More about the workshop
This is a one-day workshop to assist Cape Town-based craft producers to use shapes, patterns (natural, traditional, historical) and local materials that reflect their story, position, place, and location.
You will learn more about how to best use shape and pattern and consider local materials in the design and development process to create marketable, unique, and authentic products pf place. Join us and gain inspiration and ideas for your own product and range development! |
